Anthelios Mineral Zinc Oxide Sunscreen SPF 50 Product Reviews

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Happy with it - everyday use I did a lot of research before purchasing a face sunscreen for everyday use and chose this one even after reading some negative reviews. I have experienced a perfect consistency with this sunscreen and wonder if some people who find it gritty just aren't shaking it before using. Also, this product gives me no white cast, but I will add that I have pale skin. As someone who uses a retinoid gel, this mineral sunscreen gives me the protection I need. I will add that when I bought this sunscreen at Target, my first box had the other, non-mineral version in it with a tester sticker but I had no issues exchanging it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Comfortable but with Caveats I like this sunscreen because it's an elegant formulation that dries down comfortably. However, I sometimes doubt the UVA protection it offers, and this uncertainty has turned me away. It's also very expensive - for $33 this should come in at least a 3 ounce size, especially when considering sunscreen needs to be applied liberally in order to achieve the protection labeled on the bottle. For those with sensitive skin looking for an all-mineral sunscreen, I do think they will like this one because it doesn't sting and the white cast isn't horrible either. I have Asian skin that is pale, however, and don't think this would work for those with brown or darker skin tones.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Unpleasant I was surprised when I saw this fluid come out of the tube white, the body version is a tan color. And not pleasantly surprised. I thought this would have a silky texture to it, but it feels like rubbing sand on your face. After I finished applying it (all nicely rubbed in, it does absorb well) I looked like a corpse. I have a light, but not pale complexion and looking in the mirror now it looks like all the blood is drained from my face. My skin feels smooth and I am confident that it will be protected from the sun but I look awful.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Awesome At first I was using too much, getting the whitening effect but once I figured out the correct amount I LOVE IT ..... I am out in the sun a lot and am fair ( I am a natural redhead) so I need all the protection as I don't want any freckles or discoloration on face, neck or hands ( yes I use it on my hands) so far I have had excellent results! I am wanting to try the 60SPF but overall very satisfied with the 45SPF

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointed Having used La Roche-Posay sunscreens for many years I was excited about trying this new one. Unfortunately, the 'non-whitening' claim is incorrect. After using it for the first time my husband actually asked me what was wrong with my face as it had a pale white look to it. I tried it again the next day using the product even more sparingly that the first time with the same white results. I would buy this again.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Grainy texture I have purchased several bottles of this sunscreen. The texture is like an exfoliant, lumpy and unpleasant. I have wasted my money because I can’t use it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best bet I feel from my research and the fact that my dermatologist recommneded LAROCHE-POSAY sunscreens that this sunscreen is a my best bet. I do like the light consistency and the feel on my face/neck/decolletage. As far as I know I am pleased with the ingredients. My skin needs help (my derm and I have plans for that) so there is a bit of white that shows up on my skin what with my large pores and such. But, then I am looking into a lighted make-up mirror. So I will not take stars off due to my perfectionistic scrutinizing ways.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from great for sensitive skin con: whitening I am asian, with very sensitive skin, prone to breakouts and I find it very hard to find a suitable sunscreen, I have tried a lot of products and the only ones I feel comfortable with so far is Louis Widmer- I could not find them in USA and Anthelios, Anthelios in my opinion is better for oily skin and does not have the heavy sunscreen feel . CONS: whitening effect is slight but present, the initial chemical smell.
